LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal is a great
alternative to tedious shaving and painful waxing, tweezing, and
electrolysis. Our IPL laser scans the area where hair is to be
removed, and the light pulse gently and comfortably heats the hair
follicles and destroys them in a fraction of a second, resulting in
a permanent reduction of hair growth. With our new technology it is
possible to quickly treat even large areas such as the back and
legs.
Unlike at “medi-spas” and most doctors’ offices, all laser treatments,
including hair removal, are evaluated and performed by Dr. Shibayama
for optimal safety and results.
Who are
candidates for treatment?
Our IPL laser can treat hair in all skin types. Dr. Shibayama
will customize your treatment depending on your skin type, location
of the hair, and hair color.
What is the
treatment like?
The laser scanner is placed on the cleansed and shaved area to
be treated. Our revolutionary cooling technology cools the surface
of the skin before, during, and after the light pulse to safely and
comfortably destroy the hair follicle, resulting in a permanent
inhibition in hair regrowth. Our patients often describe the
sensation as no more than a feeling of a slight rubber band snapping
against the skin. After the treatment normal activities can be
immediately resumed, although sunscreen is recommended in the
treated areas that may be exposed to the sun.
How many
treatments are needed?
The laser
only affects hair follicles that are in an active growth phase,
which means that some hair follicles are in a resting stage during
each treatment. Therefore, multiple treatments are usually required
to effectively treat the majority of hair follicles. As little as 3
treatments may be all that is required, with the average being 4-6
treatments. The total number of treatments will vary depending on
skin, hair color, and other individual factors. During your
consultation Dr. Shibayama will be able to evaluate all these
factors and provide an estimate of the total number of treatments.
All procedures
are performed by Dr. Shibayama.
